WBO’s 31st Congress Heads to Nicaragua

The World Boxing Organization has confirmed Nicaragua as the host of the 31st Congress which will take place from October 29 and November 2, 2018.

“The convention this year will take place at the Barcelo Hotel in Managua, Nicaragua“, said Francisco Valcarcel, President of the WBO, this Friday, February 16 from the Central American country where he has been participating in several meetings with local authorities and executives of the hotel to coordinate the details of the important event.

“We have very good relations with Nicaragua, we come here frequently to donate equipment for the gyms. We had other candidates this year to host the event, among them Puerto Rico, Panama and Costa Rica, but Nicaragua made the best offer”, added Valcarcel.

The First Lady of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, made the official announcement through her radio show.

The 30th congress in 2017 took place aboard a cruise ship that departed from Florida and navigated through the Caribbean, taking participants through different islands such as Cuba, in what was an unforgettable experience.

At least 300 boxing personalities are expected to participate in this event. There is also the possibility of having a boxing event as part of the congress. A special tribute to local icon Alexis Arguello will also be part of the agenda.
