Undisputed Champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn Recieves Special Edition WBO Belt

Puerto Rico, June 28. Franchon Crews-Dezurn was left speechess when she recieved her special edition World Boxing Organization (WBO) title belt recognizing her as the first undisputed female world champion in the history of the Super Middleweight (168 pounds) division. The title belt presentation was held at the Monterrey Boxing Academy in Bayamón.

Veteran Puerto Rican amateur female standout Kiria Tapia:

“It is an honor to be witness of such a special day for Franchon and to be one of those asked to present the special edition belt to her. I have followed her career since she was an amateur. She deserves this recognition and much more. She is my friend and we have been through a lot together. She is a great human being and I am so happy to have her here in my country. May God bless her”.

“Thanks to the WBO, its Executive Committee and to all who support female boxing. This sport has changed. We have seen Franchon become undisputed champion, and she is helping to knock down the barriers to get better opportunities for women in sports, especially in boxing, just like Kiria Tapia and Amanda Serrano have done.”

“To be undisputed champion and to receive this title is a huge deal for me, my family and friends. It was a difficult process to get to where I am today. It too a lot of hard work, sacrifice, hard days and nights. I went through a lot, so being here today, helping to open doors and opportunities for other women is something very important to me. I want to thank God for this. I also want to thank my manager, Peter Khan, my team, my training club Head Bangers Gym, and my husband, We are a team and we fight together. I am proud to be the WBO Champion and every time I get in the ring, I will fight with all my heart.”

Bayamón, Puerto Rico – Rodeada de campeones y prometedoras boxeadoras aficionadas de Puerto Rico, la primera campeona mundial indiscutible en la historia del boxeo femenino en el peso súper mediano (168 libras), Franchón Crews-Dezurn, no pudo contener la emoción al recibir una correa personalizada de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB) conmemorando su histórico logro. Crews-Dezurn recibió su nueva faja hoy, durante una actividad en el gimnasio de Monterrey Boxing Academy, en Bayamón.

Destacada boxeadora amateur Kiria Tapia:

“Es un honor estar presente en este día tan especial para Franchón y de entregarle este especial cinturón. Es un día especial ya que he visto todo su proceso desde que peleaba en aficionado hasta ahora y sé que se merece esto y mucho más. Ella es una amiga que hemos pasado por mucho, es tremenda ser humano y estoy feliz de que esté en mi país. Que Dios te bendiga, te quiero y que sigas disfrutando”.

“Gracias a la OMB, su comité, a todos los que apoyan el boxeo femenino. El boxeo ha cambiado. Hemos visto que Franchón como campeona indiscutible está noqueando barreras para darle oportunidades a las mujeres en el deporte y el boxeo en general como Katie Taylor y Amanda Serrano”.

Yo quiero seguir siendo una inspiración para las mujeres en el boxeo como hace Kiria Tapia en Puerto Rico que es una gran campeona en boxeo amateur y en el futuro lo será en boxeo profesional”.

“Ser campeona indiscutible y recibir este título es muy grande para mí, mi familia, amigos. El proceso fue muy difícil, mucho trabajo, sacrificio, noches fuertes. He pasado por mucho, así que estar aquí abriendo puertas y oportunidades a mujeres es muy importante y quiero darle las gracias a Dios por eso, a mi manejador Peter Khan, mi equipo, el gimnasio Head Bangers, mi esposo. Somos un equipo y peleamos juntos. Soy una campeona orgullosa de la OMB y siempre que me trepe al ring, pelearé con todo mi corazón”.
