Tijuana, BC.- El mexicano Moisés “Moi” Fuentes puso las cosas en claro muy rápido, y demostró que el cinturón que lo acredita como campeón mundial está en buenas manos.
El “Moi” Fuentes (15-1-0, 7 ko’s) noqueó a los 2:16 minutos del primer round al tijuanense Julio César “Gatito” Félix (17-4-0, 7 ko’s) para defender por primera vez su campeonato mundial Mínimo reconocido por la Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB) en la pelea estelar de la función “Guerreros del Ring” que presentó Zanfer el sábado por la noche en El foro de Tijuana, y que fue transmitida por “La Casa del Boxeo”, Azteca 7.
Ambos boxeadores enseñaron rápido a lo que iban. Fuentes a atacar y a intentar acorralar a su rival, y Félix a buscar hacer la pelea larga y recorriendo todo el ring.
Los largos brazos de Fuentes, y el poder de sus puños, se combinaron con un movimiento de salida del “Gatito”, que dejó descubierta su zona abdominal, a donde el “Moi” acertó con demoledor gancho para que Félix se fuera a la lona.
Aunque se recuperó y continuó en la pelea, Fuentes sabía que era cuestión de tiempo para liquidar la contienda. Y así sucedió.
El “Moi” fintó al “Gatito” con un ataque al rostro, pero en realidad lo que lanzó fue otro pavoroso gancho, pero éste de efectos fulminantes e inmediatos, que hicieron que el tijuanense no sólo se fuera a la lona, sino que se revolcara en ella del dolor. Encogido, quejándose, escuchó la cuenta de diez segundos del réferi Russell Mora y la gran ilusión de que Tijuana contara con un campeón mundial de boxeo, se desvaneció con dos “puñaladas” al hígado.
“Fue lo que trabajamos, el golpeo abajo para disminuirle velocidad y movilidad, pero no lo soportó, 130 rounds de sparring rindieron sus frutos y ya estamos listos para Iván Calderón, a él lo pude descifrar haciendo sparring y creo que le puedo ganar”, dijo contento Fuentes tras su triunfo.
Por su parte, Félix aceptó tranquilo la derrota y reconoció la calidad del campeón mundial.
“Me lastimó abajo y no me pude reponer, desde el primer golpe que me dio sentí el dolor, y en la segunda caída fue muy intenso el dolor, no pude hacer nada, Fuentes fue mejor y es un gran campeón”, dijo el “Gatito”.
La próxima defensa de Moisés “Moi” Fuentes será, tentativamente, ante el legendario puertorriqueño Iván “Iron Boy” Calderón, durante el mes de julio en Puerto Rico.

Tijuana, Mexico – Moisés “Moi” Fuentes (15-1-0, 7 KO’s) retained his WBO 105-pound title with first round knockout of hometown hero Julio César “Gatito” Felix (17-4-0, 7 KO’s) at 2:16. The card took place at El foro de Tijuana and was televised by Azteca 7. After some big shots to the head and a hook to the body, Felix went down to the mat. He recovered, but then took more punishment to the head and body, falling back to the mat and this time he stayed there in pain for the full count of ten. Fuentes will now face former champion Ivan Calderon on August 4th.
After ten rounds of super bantamweight action, Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas (14-0-1, 9 KO’s) was awarded a hard-fought ten round unanimous decision over Enrique “Duende” Bernache (19-4-0, 10 KO’s). The scores were 95-94, 95-94 and 97-95. Rosas controlled the action early but faded late and even got dropped in the eight round.

TIJUANA – One of Tijuana´s favorite boxers, Julio Cesar “Gatito” Felix will get his shot on Saturday night in his hometown. “Gatito” (17-3-0, 7 KOs) will challenge champion Moises “Moi” Fuentes (14-1-0, 6 KOs) for the strawweight championship recognized by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), taking place at “El Foro” (former Jai Alai Palace) located in the historic and tourist Revolution Avenue. An event by Zanfer Promotions and transmitted by TV Azteca.
Fuentes has not fought since August 2011, when he snatched the championship from Raul “Rayito” Garcia in Guadalajara. He was going to fight in Tijuana in March, but in one of his sparring sessions he injured his right hand.
On the same evening and what will be the co-featured bout, a 10-round bantamweight world clash with Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas (13-0-1, 9 KOs) and Enrique “Duende” Bernache (19 – 3-0, 10 KOs).

Moises Fuentes (14-1, 6Kos) will make the first defense of his WBO minimumweight championship on June 2 in Tijuana, likely against Julio Cesar Felix (17-3, 7KOs). Fuentes has been inactive since winning the title from Raul Garcia last August. He was set to fight former champion Ivan Calderon, several times. The fight continues to get postponed and Fuentes wants to stay busy. Calderon made an indication to Feuntes’ camp that he wasn’t ready to go on the last rescheduled date, so the Mexican fighter will stay sharp until a date with Calderon is finalized.
