Estadio Luna Park, Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina – Felipe Orucuta (27-2, 23KOs), with the legendary trainer Nacho Beristain in his corner, fought his heart out and some felt the young Mexican boxer had did enough to win, but Omar Narvaez (39-1, 20KOs) get a twelve round split decision to retain the WBO super flyweight championship. The scores were 118-110 for Orucuta, and two cards of 115-113 for Narvaez. Orucuta outworked Narvaez in many of the rounds and landed the hard, crisper punches. Narvaez would often run for most of the round and then attempt to steal it in the final moments with quick bursts of punches from both hands.

WBO super flyweight champion Omar Narvaez (38-1, 20KOs) and Felipe Orucuta (27-1, 23KOs) of Mexico made weight for Saturday’s fight at the Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Orucuta only lost once, a razor-thin ten round decision to Daniel Rosas in 2010. The young Mexican fighter is trained by the legendary hall-of-fame coach Nacho Beristain, who also handles pound-for-pound fighter Juan Manuel Marquez. Narvaez came in at 52 kg. – 114.6-pounds, while Orucuta was 114.75.

World Boxing Organization (WBO) president Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel announced today the referee and judges who will work this Saturday’s super flyweight world title fight between the champion Omar Narvaez and the #1 ranked Felipe Orucuta to be held at the Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a O.R. Promotions. The referee will be Samuel Viruet (USA), judges are Roberto Torres (Puerto Rico), Roark Young (USA) and William Lerch (USA). The WBO supervisor for this fight will be Rolando Marcos Hermoso.
