WBO European Middleweight Champion Conrad Cummings confident ahead of Luke Keeler rematch following better camp

Conrad Cummings fulfils a childhood dream on Friday night as he looks to banish a 2018 nightmare.

The Coalisland middleweight rematches Luke Keeler [15(5)-2(1)-1] in the headline attraction of the MTK Fight Night at the Ulster Hall in Belfast and is supremely confident going into the clash.

Cummings [16(7)-2(0)-1] was decisively beaten by the Dubliner last April but has noted that an imperfect build-up and a massive under-performance from him meant that Keeler was the better boxer on the night.

‘Mr Dynamite’ is determined to show his explosive “true worth” this Friday and notes that things have been a lot different in the build-up to this clash.

Cummings has been training in a stripped back VIP Gym under Jamie Moore, with the likes of Carl Frampton, Martin Murray, and Rocky Fielding all out of camp at the moment.

Quietly going about his business alongside Steven Ward, Cummings comes into the fight full of confidence following a focused camp.

The Tyrone puncher described how “all that matters on the night is what happens between myself and Keeler. Having said that, I’ve gained a lot of confidence because I’ve been sparring very well.”

“I’ve always been the confident type but I’m definitely not over-confident. I’m just completely focused, very switched on and ready for the task in hand.”

While Cummings has since reclaimed the WBO European title which was on the line last April, he goes into this fight as a heavy underdog, a big reversal.

However, the 27-year-old is safe in the knowledge that he was not himself last year and is promising to put on a show on the big stage here.

Cummings outlined how “I’ve said it before so I don’t need to keep saying it – the first time I fought him was a bad night for me and not the true Conrad Cummings at all. ”

“What happened that night is history now. Roll on Friday and I’ll show everyone my true worth.”

“To be headlining Ulster Hall in a big title fight is something I dreamed of as a kid and now it’s here, I’m just ready to go out there, soak it all up and enjoy myself.”
